Shah Rukh Khan born 2 November 1965, also known as SRK, is an Indian actor, producer and television personality. Referred to in the media as the ‘King of Bollywood’, ‘King Khan’. He has appeared in more than 80 movies. Khan has significant following in Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide. 
Khan began his career with appearance in several television series in the late 1980. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. 

Early Life and Family
Khan was born on 2 November 1965 in a Muslim family in New Delhi. He spent the first five years of his life in Mangalore, where his maternal grandfather, Iftkjhar Ahmed served as the chief engineer of the port in the 1960. According to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad an ethnic Pathan was from Afghanistan. Khan’s father meer Taj Muhammad Khan, was an Indian independence activist in Peshawar. As of 2010, Khan’s paternal family was still living in Shah Wali Qataal area of Peshawar’s Qissa Khawani Bazaar. His father moved to New Delhi in 1948 after partition of India. 
Khan grew up in Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood of Delhi. His father had several business ventures including a restaurant, and the family lived in middle class life in rented apartments. Khan attended St Colomba school in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and in sports such as hockey and football. In his youth, he acted in stage plays and received praise for his imitations of Bollywood actors, of which his favorites were Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and Mumtaz. One of his childhood friend and acting partner was Amrita Singh, who became a Bollywood actress. Khan enrolled at Hansraj college to earn his bachelors degree in Economics, after Hansraj, he began studying for a master’s degree in Mass Communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, but left to pursue his acting career. 

He married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony on 25 October 1991, after a six year courtship. They have a son Aryan and a daughter Suhana. In 2013 they became a parents of third child named Abram. According to Khan while he strongly believes in Islam, he also value his wife’s religion. His children follow both religions. 

Acting Career
Khan’s first starring role was in Lekh Tandon’s television series Dil Darya, which began shooting in 1988, but production delays led to the 1989 series Fauji becoming his television debut instead. Khan was not interested in film acting at the time, thinking that he was not good enough. Khan changed his decision to act in films in April 1991, citing it as a way to escape the grief of his mother’s death. He moved from Delhi to Mumbai to pursue a full time career in Bollywood, and was quickly signed to four films. His first offer was for Hema Malini’s directorial Dil Aashna Hai, he had started his first shoot. His film was debut in Deewana, which was release in June 1992. Deewana became a box office hit and launched Khan’s Bollywood career. He earned the Filmfare Best Male Debut Award for his performance. 
Among his 1993 releases Khan garnered the most appreciation for portraying villainous roles in two box office hits an obsessive lover in Darr and a murderer in Baazigar. Khan starred in seven films in 1995, the first of which was Rakesh Roshan’s melodramatic thriller Karan Arjun, co-starring Salman Khan and Kajol, it became the second highest grossing film of the year in India. His most significant release that year was Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaynge. 

In 2000, he played different roles in many films like Phir Be Dil Hai Hindustani 2000, Mohabbatain 2000, Ashoka 2001, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham 2001. He was awarded his second Filfare award for best actor for Mohabbatain. In 2002, Khan played the role with Aishwarya Rai in Devdas. In 2003, his film was Kal Ho Na Ho, Main Hoon Na 2004, Veer Zaara 2004, Kabhi Alwida Na Kehna 2006.

In 2007, Khan appear in Om Shanti Om the film became highest grossing at box office. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi 2008, My Name is Khan 2010, Ra-One 2011.
Khan starred in Yash Chopra’s film in 2012 Jab Tak Hai Jaan which saw him once again in a romantic role with Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif, the film was a moderate financial success in worldwide. In 2015 khan starred in Dilwale with Kriti Sanon and Varun Dhawan. He appeared in Fan 2016. In the year of 2017 he appeared in crime drama film Raees. Khan’s latest film is Jab Harry Met Sejal with Anushka Sharma.
